Bat Mouth

Bat Mouth

It wasn’t a dream nor a hallucination
there had been a question of coffee
and then weather
we had deteriorated much

and it had been only in the past year
an avalanche.
buried somewhere, was our shared experience

we’d grown threadbare
we didn’t end it early enough

for months we laid in a bed inches from the floor
it was good and then there wasn’t anything good anymore
because there remained that responsibility
a responsibility only to be shared by lovers
that were too old
that had already given up on themselves and everyone else

in the end there weren’t choices
one walked away and one remained
a mouth, as a coccoon, and there hatched insects and things I didn’t understand

2012 was a Short Year
